LA's Worst Traffic Intersections Face Off
It's March Madness season, and for Angelenos, that means a different kind of bracket. Americana at Brand Memes, a social media account famous for its Southern California-themed content, has launched an Instagram tournament to crown the Greater Los Angeles area's "worst" intersection.
Last year, the account held a similar competition, declaring Koreatown's parking the region's most dreadful, with the Hollywood Bowl coming in second. This year's "One Bad Intersection After Another" tournament kicked off on March 1, with a champion set to be announced in April.
The contenders span the region, featuring notoriously complex spots like a six-way stop in Beverly Hills and chaotic junctions along Sunset Boulevard. Based on Instagram comments, these intersections are more than just traffic points; they're sources of significant commuter frustration.
Traffic is a defining characteristic of Los Angeles and Southern California. The Los Angeles Times has previously identified problematic intersections based on accident data and traffic volume. Examples include the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Sepulveda and Lincoln Boulevards near LAX, and the junction of Pacific Coast Highway, Chautauqua Boulevard, and West Channel Road.
